Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about ScholarRise, campaigns, and sponsoring.
What is ScholarRise?
ScholarRise is a platform that connects college students with sponsors who help fund their journey. Students create campaigns and registries of what they need; sponsors give securely — to a campaign or by buying a specific registry item.
Who can create a campaign?
Verified college students. Enrolled students sign up with a .edu email, which verifies them automatically. Pre-college students (high school seniors with an acceptance letter) upload their letter for our team to review before they can publish a campaign.
How do sponsors know students are real?
Every student verifies their .edu email. Pre-college students are reviewed by our team using their uploaded acceptance letter. This keeps the community trustworthy.
How does payment work?
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Sponsors can donate to a campaign, buy a registry item, or check out a cart of items. Registry items can also be purchased directly at the retailer and marked as purchased.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. Sponsors can choose to give anonymously on any donation or registry purchase. Your identity is never shared with the student without your consent.
Is my giving tax-deductible?
ScholarRise provides an annual giving summary you can download from your sponsor dashboard at year-end for your records. Please consult a tax professional about deductibility for your specific situation.
What can students raise funds for?
Students build a registry of real items — textbooks, technology, dorm supplies, transportation, and more — and set a campaign goal. Sponsors can fund the campaign overall or buy specific registry items.
How do students receive the items?
Students provide a shipping address at campaign setup (shown only to sponsors at checkout). Registry items are shipped directly to the student, and delivery status is tracked in the app.
Can students and sponsors communicate?
Yes. Sponsors can send messages, and students can send thank-you letters through the platform. Privacy controls let each person decide what they share.
How do I get started?
Sign up for free, choose whether you are a student or a sponsor, and follow the prompts. Students can build a campaign in minutes; sponsors can start browsing and giving right away.
